Iowa

So last week Iowa offered us a spot at their medical school. It was a really really hard decision but we decided to go to Iowa. Hooray! It was still really sad turning down the ridiculously nice people at Texas Tech. But Iowa will be a great school. So, just thought I'd let you guys know. Also, you are all awesome.

Go hawkeyes!

Also, I went to Canyonlands with some friends this past weekend and there were some absolutely incredible views. Wendy couldn't go unfortunately because of some family stuff. The hikes were really easy too. They're all only a mile or so long.

Girl's Camp!

This is a pic of the storm as it was coming in.  It came just as all the families were arriving for skit night.
Our surroundings:  yes, we camped in the middle of cornfields.
Here we are hunkering down in the barn during the storm.
One of the YW at camp.  This pic gives you a good idea of what our campsite looked like.

Mammoth Cave National Park

Em does this really cute thing when she rides on Ben's shoulders...she holds onto his ears

My sister Bonnie came to visit and we all went to Mammoth Caves in KY.  Despite the fact that Em and I are both wearing the same clothes as the pics from the bike ride (see below), it was a different day, I promise.
The critter I caught in the cave
Em's first time swimming.  It took her awhile to like it, but by the end she was having fun

Bike ride

We found a really sweet bike trail along a river.  Here we are picnicking.  We found a family who knew Aunt Kathy from Beverly Hills.  Their names were the Taylors.  Small world.

The Laurel & Hardy Museum (Sorry for the spaces between some of the photos)

I made it to the Museum, yeah!

Most of what it had was memorabilia that had been donated by various people over the years.

Freeeesh Fiiiiish! (Honk).
Caught from the ocean this mooornin'! (Bweep).
We got Tuna, Mackerel, and Saaaalmon! (Honk).

I thought these were some good pictures.

This was a part of the room they called the theatre. There was a small screen in the front, I watched Busy Bodies and Sons of the Desert there when I visited. I'd forgotten how great Sons of the Desert was.

Bidding farewell to the Museum.

Later that day I went on something called the River Walk in downtown Augusta. It was great, and I got a couple of good pictures of the sunset.

Sometimes there are little moments where all the bad in life dissolves away if only for a little while.

Natalie Has learned skills from Emily

She picked up a lot while in Tennessee, we have to keep a close eye on her lately!

We found the Lost Ark!

One day, while driving down our street, I exclaimed to Katie that I saw the Lost Ark. She looked at me like I was crazy, until I pulled a U turn and found this in the driveway of a nearby home. While fumbling for the camera, the people in the home noticed our spying and we quickly left. We returned after about an hour and found they had moved the Ark in front of their car, trying to hide it from the public. We were unable to acquire the Ark as Katie was frightened we might melt if we tried to do so.

Stewart Falls

Everyone's posts are awesome. We are impressed. Here are our humble submissions to the blog. You can see some of the pictures of the falls. It's Stewart Falls... it's about a two mile hike from a parking lot up by Sundance. And the falls were awesome. Maybe we should go during the reunion or something. Although the water probably won't be quite as bountiful at that point.

This is a majestic pose by Wendy. Epic.

Since my leg has been bugging me forever, I go bike riding with Wendy while she runs. If you zoom in you can see that I'm wearing racquetball goggles to protect my eyeballs from errant racquetballs. They worked. You guys are awesome. Someday we will have cute kids like you but we'll have to name them Latrina and Claude because all the good names will be taken.

Natalie as photographed by the paparazzi

"Yeah...I like to eat with style."
Natalie's first time with pasta and sauce last month.
I think she was saying "HAHHAAAAA!!!" in this picture.
Natalie started falling asleep in funny positions over the past month.
Loving outside time!

Fun in Tennessee (the Sites)

In front of General Jackson's Hermitage Estate.
President "General" Jackson's tomb with his wife.
The tomb again. Katie liked the story about Jackson's parrot who attended his funeral and began swearing during the ceremony and needed to be escorted back to the house.
The cousins: Ian, Emily (in a ballet stance), and Natalie.
The cousins, part two. (Natalie began standing with assistance this weekend and trying out a few steps after being inspired by her elder cousin Emily). Natalie even started trying to stand from a crawling position...thanks, Emily for your example :)
