Polish choir at President's funeral

Check this link out to hear and see the Polish military carry out the President's coffin.  They look good and the choir apparently is one of the best in Europe.  My Polish teachers all said they were very impressed with the ceremony.

Time Flies

Em hogs the camera

Em loves her new sister. She's very sweet towards her, but hasn't quite responded to the entreating of her mother to be "soft" and "gentle." The other day Em stuck her finger directly into C's eyeball exclaiming "eye!". Em is also into throwing toys now and sometimes takes aim at C's head. Luckily her aim isn't any good. As you can see from the pic below, Em loves to "hold it" (hold the baby). Fortunately for C, she is usually conked out so doesn't notice Em's manhandling.

Grandma's visit

Enjoying a spring afternoon along the PotomacFunny story: My aunt sent this dress as a gift for Caroline (size 18 mos.) Ben mistakenly thought it was for Em and dressed her in it without me knowing. As you can see, it's a little short.

Easter and other happenings

Em's depressed to say good-bye to Grandma Easter egg hunt. Em didn't quite grasp the concept. We had to keep telling her to pick up the eggs.
This is Em's best friend out here, Clayre. Clayre kept taking Em's eggs from her basket and Em didn't even care.

Dying eggs... can you see the enthusiasm on both Ben's and Em's faces? They're both participating to humor Mama.

Katie's finally posting something!!

Holla back y'all! So we had the pleasure of having Mom, Dad, and a progressively sicker Steve over this past week and had a blast. Here are some funny pictures. You can see Steve culred up on the ground and with several objects balanced on his stomach, Mom plucking Dad's eyebrows, a prom picture on the Iowa plains, and some sweet fossils and rushing waters at the Coralville reservoir. Good times. We also took some pictures of the local budding fauna today. Spring is so beautiful in the midwest.

It was finally warm enough for Lucy to wear this cute dress Dave and Wendy gave her for her birthday. I'll have to post some more of her wearing the cute dress Katie gave her also. Thank you all for supplying Lucy with such a cute wardrobe.

Greetings all,

Katie and Natalie came to visit us while Steve was home on leave--we were all awesome. Mom, Steve and I had a great General Conference weekend--started out spending Friday night and Saturday with Dave and Wendy in Iowa City, then came home to listen to Sunday sessions with Joe and Bethany and Lucy (she wasn't quite as into it as some) and Bethany's mom, sister and niece who also visited us. It was a good time, with one caveat.

Steve got ahold of some virus that wholloped him with killer headaches, 103-degree fevers, bad sore throat, and now has settled in his esophagus and stomach to the point he can't drink or eat anything. He was given morphine and other pain drugs intravenously, as well as fluids (the only way he can get any fliuds in him), and has been in the hospital here (St John's) since last Thursday. They scoped his gullet last night and found esophagitis and stomach inflamation, all apparently caused by this virus; but at least the fevers, headache and throat problems are gone. We got his name on the temple roll here, but please remember him in your prayers--his unit deploys to Afghanistan in 2 weeks and it looks like he may have to join later in country.

We love you all. Mom has had a great week with Caroline, Emily, Marinda and Ben; but the diet around here will significantly pick up when she comes home--due back tomorrow night and we'll all catch up on the Conference Call (1900). Love, Dad
