Well, now that I have my own login and password I can post some pictures on the blog and we don't have to wait for Joe to do it, because we all know how frequently he does that. So I thought I would start this one. I'll post more later but I thought this was a good start.

Sunset on the Iowa

I snapped these pictures of the Iowa river last week on my way home from class. This is not far from our little house in Coralville. The sunsets here are amazing. The sun looks like a great big orange tennis ball and you can see it all the way down to the horizon. I guess living in a mountain-less land isn't ALL bad.

Airborne Steve!

Couple older paratroopers (one REALLY old) made it to Steve's Airborne School graduation 18 Sep 09. Announcer requested no blood wings, but these two caused some punture wounds anyway--Steve just didn't yell quite as loud as usual.

Congratulations Steve! He's now headed off to Fort Campbell, KY, for his first assignment with the 101st Air Assault Division.

Hoodoos and antics in Bryce

The whimsical formations all throughout Bryce Canyon are called "Hoodoos," but nobody really knows why.

Bryce Canyon Trip

Natalie loved walking everywhere. She hiked a ton, too! She was quite the charmer, making friends with everyone. She held her hand out to this ranger and made her walk with she and Katie, it was so cute!

Natalie finally started liking the pool with some gradual desensitization, and some help from "Nikita," who was adopted from the Ukraine (he was really interested in helping Natalie learn to swim and talk).

LDS Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Katie and I were able to volunteer at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House in July. Katie was at the nurses/first aid station and I was a person-counter at the door. The view into the valley from the east/front doors of the temple was quite amazing: you could see the Draper Temple, the Jordan River Temple, and into the Salt Lake Sky Line, where the Salt Lake Temple is. I don't know of any other place on earth where you can see the locations of 4 temples. No excuses for not getting to the temple ;)
Angel Moroni was actually struck by lightning in June. His arm and trumpet are still blackened from the strike.
This is the cornerstone (unsealed). I put an entry of our experience that was sealed with others behind the cornerstone at the dedication. The entire state of Utah had the day off from chruch to watch the dedication - of which they held 9 sessions of dedication over 3 days so everyone had a chance to participate.
