Article

Here's an article about a 4-star general I thought you might all enjoy.

I especially enjoyed it because the writer told a story about Karl Malone too. My older sister was once alone in an elevator with Karl Malone at the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown SLC and didn't even know it! I remember one of the maids pointed him out to me and then Beck realized what an idiot she was for not knowing. She was like, "Yeah, he was really nice. Asked me what floor I wanted and pushed the button for me." Ha!

Pictures from Joe

Joe sent me these pictures today and asked if I would post them for him. These may be the only pictures we'll see of him while he is out there.

Pass the snow, please

I think Punksatony Phil might not have made an appearance today had he lived in Iowa. Infact, he might have suffocated. We got hit hard last night with wind and snow that created 5-6 foot snow drifts. Everything is closed. No school for Dave. I don't know how he'd get there if it wasn't cancelled! Our car is literally buried.

Yep, that is most definitely our back door.

And our car.

Happy Groundhog Day!

Trip to San Diego

Lucy with her Great Grandpa Abeyta at his doughnut shop in San Diego.
Hailey with her Great Grandma Abeyta.

Lucy got in her first fight. I think the chair won. She doesn't have a dirty face, they're all scratches from the fall.

Bethany has a great home teacher who helped move her out of quarters and load up her storage room; while he was deployed Joe had been his hometeacher and taken good care of his family. Here's the crew from her ward that helped her move ; Bethany took us all out for pizza after we were mission complete.

Lucy and Bethany brought Hailey over to see us; Hailey is not as loud as Joe, inspite of the appearance in the photo. Here they all are with their great-great gramma's rocking chair.

Bethany, Lucy and Hailey came to stay with us for a while before Christmas. It was really fun having them all here. Lucy is a real trip with LOTS of energy. And Hailey is a most beautiful addition to the family. Joe and Bethany do great work.

Gramma with the newest arrival--Hailey. She really looks like Joe (Hailey I mean), but she'll grow out of it.

Dave and Wendy came to spend Christmas with us. The traditional Christmas cookie decoration event came off fine--many cookies did not, of course, survive the evening, and Wendy's were by far the most well decorated (Dave and I were more into the cookie eating part of the event).

Shea, Katie and Natalie joined us right after Christmas and we had great time with everybody here. Lots of Hearts, Spades, the name game, and other lightmindedness.

Here's the crew watching 'Empire Strikes Back' on the new awesome projector (just after we'd watched 'Inception'--we'll have to do it again when you come home, Steve). Even the popcorn tastes better with the new projector. Thank you all so much for your generosity!! It has already projected major cinematic events such as all Star Wars, Avatar, and I'm working through the Lord of the Rings shows.
Keep on strokin' out there, Shahas. Love, Mom and Dad

End of an Era

Well, with the demise of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" I thought this demotivator would do it justice. The other one I put up just because I think it's hilarious.
